How do you measure personal success?

7 01 2008

2 sales guys just walked by me in the office, overheard snippet of conversation:

<snip>

“So hey, he’s now doing XYZ  … but he’s still got a Ferrari.”

</snip>

Just made me think that having a <fancy car> isn’t my measure of personal success.  I guess knowing what isn’t gets you closer to knowing what is.

and then you have to figure out if that’s professional success or not. The whole “image” thing is still to showcase professional success. Maybe that guy then goes home and feeds 8 million AIDS kids in Africa.

It’s sort of funny — you’re like me in a lot of “my life and happiness” are measures of success in general. I hope a lot more people are like that — maybe they don’t admit it because they’re afraid it will keep them from that promotion. It’s a sad state of corporate affairs when admitting that life is more important than work is seen as a detriment to forward movement.

Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so…
Believe that everything happens for a reason.
If you get a chance , TAKE IT!
If it changes your life , LET IT!
Nobody said it would be easy…
They just promised it would be worth it!…

I wish I wrote that one Beck…but it sure is one way to measure PERSONAL SUCCESS!
I love you and I love your zest for life!!! Continue to live life fully and go for the two-fers every chance you can! Your connection with friends who know how to keep you tuned into the important side of self are treasures….I love reading their in-puts to your queries about life! xoxoxoxo Mom
